RF Microneedling for
Skin Concerns
RF microneedling combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy and is used in clinical settings as part of treatment plans for a range of skin concerns, including acne scarring, uneven skin texture, and changes associated with sun exposure or ageing.
This treatment may be considered for individuals looking to address concerns such as the appearance of fine lines, skin tone irregularities, and skin quality. Treatment suitability and options are determined following a consultation with a qualified practitioner.
What is RF Microneedling?
RF microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that combines traditional microneedling techniques with radiofrequency (RF) energy to treat multiple skin concerns. This treatment delivers energy to both the superficial and deeper layers of the skin and may support the skin’s natural processes. It is used in clinical settings as part of treatment plans for concerns such as skin laxity, the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores, mild scarring, and uneven skin texture.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
RF microneedling is a treatment that may be used as part of a plan to address a range of skin concerns, including:
- Acne scars
- Wrinkle Concerns
- Skin laxity (moderate to mild)
- Sun damage
- Enlarged pores
- Stretch marks
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Scar tissue
- Loose skin
RF Microneedling at Prophile Clinics
Consultation
Before your treatment, you will have a consultation with one of our trained professionals. This allows us to assess your skin concerns, review your medical history, and create a tailored treatment plan. During this stage, we will also discuss any necessary preparation and aftercare.
Procedure
The RF microneedling procedure usually takes around 45-60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. A specialist strength numbing gel will be applied to minimise any discomfort. The RF microneedling device is then used to deliver targeted RF energy to the skin’s surface while creating micro-channels in the skin. This combination helps support the skin’s natural processes and address deeper skin concerns like moderate skin laxity.
Results
Results from RF microneedling can vary depending on individual skin concerns, but improvements in skin texture and tone typically begin to appear within a few weeks. The skin’s natural processes may continue over time following treatment, with changes developing gradually. This treatment may be used as part of a plan to support the appearance of smoother skin and address concerns such as acne scarring, stretch marks, and fine lines.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any more questions about RF microneedling or any of our other services, please don’t hesitate to contact us today. In the meantime, you can find more FAQs below that may provide the additional information you’re looking for.
Is RF microneedling painful?
Radiofrequency may cause some discomfort as it is delivered. A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied before treatment to minimise discomfort. Immediately after treatment, your skin will be red and will feel warm and tingling, as if you have been sunburned. This will subside over the next 24 to 72 hours.
How does RF microneedling differ from traditional microneedling?
Traditional skin needling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, while RF microneedling combines this with radiofrequency energy delivered to deeper layers of the skin. This treatment is used in clinical settings as part of treatment plans for concerns related to skin quality, texture, and the appearance of skin laxity.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies from patient to patient, but you will notice visible results after 1 treatment. It is recommended to achieve more noticeable and superior results to have between 3 to 5 treatments, 4 weeks apart.
How long do the results of RF microneedling last?
Results may vary between individuals, and changes may develop over time. Maintenance treatments may be recommended as part of an ongoing treatment plan, depending on individual needs and practitioner advice.
